We are deeply saddened by the passing of Marvin Levy, a Starlight board member, cherished volunteer, and beloved friend. Marvin’s remarkable contributions to Starlight spanned more than three decades, leaving a lasting impact on our mission and the lives of countless children and families.

Marvin joined our board in 1990 through an initiative co-founded by Steven Spielberg to support seriously ill children. Marvin remained by our side for more than 30 years, offering his wisdom, generosity, and wholehearted support year after year.

Marvin was a legendary figure in the entertainment industry, best known as the longtime publicist for Steven Spielberg and the first publicist ever to receive an Academy Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. With a career spanning more than 70 years, he was widely respected for his integrity, insight, and deep understanding of storytelling.

But at Starlight, Marvin was simply Marvin—our guiding voice, our steadfast champion, and our friend.

He was never too busy to ask how someone was doing. He listened with care, advised with clarity, and graciously opened doors to make meaningful introductions that helped Starlight grow and thrive. Together with his wife Carol, Marvin was always there to deliver happiness to seriously ill children and their families.

We are forever grateful for Marvin’s kindness, advocacy, and belief in our mission. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide us for many years to come.

Our world is brighter because of Marvin Levy.
